What is abuse?

These are some things that someone close to you could be doing:

  • Hitting you
  • Threatening you
  • Humiliating you
  • Forcing you to have sex
  • Threatening the children
  • Abusing your children
  • Breaking things in your home
  • Keeping you short of money
  • Playing mind games with you
  • Accusing you of being unfaithful
  • Ridiculing your beliefs
  • Isolating you from friends and family
  • Using contact with the children to abuse you or the children further

This could make you feel:

  • Frightened
  • Degraded
  • Unable to make decisions
  • Trapped

IF ANY OF THESE APPLY TO YOU, YOU ARE EXPERIENCING DOMESTIC ABUSE

Remember:

You don't deserve what has been done to you, its not your fault, and you can get away if that's what you want.
